Stacey Gish Wallenstein created The Mint Chip Mama blog in 2013 to share her love and passion for giving children meaningful life experiences and helping moms like her navigate the challenges and benefits of raising children in the New York metropolitan area.īefore becoming a full-time mom in 2010, Stacey spent the better part of the preceding decade as a high-end customer relationship management (CRM) professional for some of the most well-known brands in the hotel, luxury, fashion, and beauty industries, such as Harrah’s Entertainment, Chanel and Christian Dior, Inc. Don’t forget to check out my huge list of Fun 80’s Movies to Watch with Your Family Today! Fun 90’s Movies To Watch With Your Family Today: PG Movies Because just like these characters in 90’s movies, I’m old school. Many of these can be found on tv or streaming (I will include the Amazon Video links below), but most I’ve ordered on DVD from the library. Some you will say “OMG! I forgot about that movie”. Some movies you defiantly showed your family already. Your kids will love it.Īs usual, with all of my posts, I have tried to find the obscure and less known. A Note On RatingsĪgain, keep in mind a PG rating in the 90’s may not be up to your standards of a PG movie today, so get your coughing and distraction techniques ready in case you need them.Īlso, don’t forget the fun of a backyard screening! If you bought a projector to make your backyard a wicked cool cocoon, and it’s too cold where you live to continue watching movies outside, bring that Mini Movie Projector inside! You can convert one of your rooms (preferably with a big comfy couch) into a screening room, you just need a big wall. I think part of the fun of re-watching these movies with my kids is bringing back those particular memories. I have such warm memories of sitting in (now defunct) movie theaters and feeling like a big shot. It’s a decade that people my age (in their 40’s) started coming into their own. The 90’s was a decade that brought us Clueless, and a time when I started going to the movies alone with my friends. Matilda is a feel-good piece that both adults and children can enjoy. As a sister post to my “ Fun 80’s Movies to Watch with Your Family Today” post, I present the continuation, cleverly called – Fun 90’s Movies to Watch with Your Family Today! Danny DeVito also directed the movie, proving he was just as good a director as he's an actor. A fun fact is that Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman who played Matilda's parents are together in real life as well. The movie is funny at times and has an excellent cast. She causes mischief, yes, but that's normal as a kid and many people around her deserve a bit of mischievous behavior. Matilda comes across as a likable character, especially if the viewers ever felt the same way she did. She also happens to have unique powers and puts them to good use in her school. Matilda is a brilliant child with not so brilliant parents who aren't paying much attention to their daughter. Matilda, based on Roald Dahl's work, is one of them. There are plenty of movies centered on young boys but in the 1990s, when young girls wanted to watch someone like them in movies, they didn't have that many options to choose from.
